Smart and Energy-Efficient Lighting at NS Leidschendam
At the NS maintenance facility in Leidschendam, the lighting system has been upgraded using OPPLE Lighting’s smart BLE solutions. This industrial site, where daily maintenance is carried out on trains, required a more efficient and sustainable lighting solution.
The existing 400W HPL fixtures have been replaced with 300 LED Highbay Performer luminaires, supplemented by 55 smart sensors and modules. The OPPLE Smart Lighting System was chosen for its efficient installation and user-friendly configuration: only a 230V connection is needed, after which all settings can be easily managed via an app. This minimizes installation time and increases flexibility in light control.
Thanks to this lighting upgrade, NS achieves significant energy savings by reducing the power per fixture from 400W to 155W. The integrated sensors enable dynamic lighting control: when no activity is detected, the luminaires automatically dim to 10%, further reducing energy consumption. Additionally, switching to LED means lower maintenance frequency and a longer lifespan, reducing operational costs.
Beyond these functional benefits, the light quality has greatly improved. The new fixtures provide a more uniform light distribution and higher light output, contributing to a safer and more efficient working environment.
With this transition to a smart and energy-efficient lighting infrastructure, NS Leidschendam takes an important step toward sustainable and future-proof lighting.
